The Trick to Staying Strange

Just thought I'd say, to be a Sage it takes some modicum of weirdness, an overall strangeness of attitude. And the trick to maintaining this without letting people get you down by calling you names is to take everything as a complement! Whenever someone says "You're weird" you just have to say "Why thank you". Or when they say you need mental help you say "I will take that as a complement". (thanks Galen!) Yep, that's the secret to not losing your marbles. Or maybe not finding them, as it may be! And now an excerpt that just stuck out at me from a song I'm listening to:

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the jungle of doubt
To the river so deep
I know I'm searching for something
Something so undefined
That it can only be seen
By the eyes of the blind
In the middle of the night

No idea why that part stuck out at me. But I like it anyways.

Edit: I just realized what it is that stuck out about this part! It's like a metaphor for trying to find faith!! Something so undefined is God, and he can only be seen by those who are blind to the world!! O ya, inspiration of the Holy Spirit! Also the in the middle of the night is like walking in darkness!! Wow. That's totally awesome. I feel like singing a hymn now. Anyways, glad I figured that out. Wow. This song means a whole lot more now. I need to listen to it again. Maybe I'll dissect the metaphors in an upcoming post. That would be cool.

I set out on a narrow Way
Many years ago
Hoping I would find True Love
Along the Broken Road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow, kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every Sign
Pointed straight to You
Every long-lost Dream
Led me to where You are
Others who broke my heart
They were like Northern Stars
Pointing me on my way
Into your Loving Arm's
This much I know is true
That *You* blessed the broken Road
That led me straight to You

Although it's a love song, it has a very neat underlying spiritual theme.

Oh yeah, it's *God* in the song, not *you* but I changed it because otherwise it wouldn't make sense.

All love songs have a sense of spirtalty to them, whether you see it or not. that is Gods way of getting to te unchurched.
